Terms
The term "Contest" refers to an online competition fielded using Votridea's Contest Platform.
The "Contest Sponsor", AAFMAA is the organization responsible for initiating and running the Contest using Votridea's Contest Platform.
The "Contest Platform" is software created by Votridea for the purposes of creating and running a Contest on behalf of Sponsor.
A "Participant" is the owner of a Votridea account. A Votridea account is created when an individual first logs into a Votridea-operated web site, such as, but not limited to, the Contest Platform. A Votridea account may optionally be associated with an external authentication service such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Ning, OpenID and others.
A "Contestant" is the owner of the Votridea account associated with a contest submission.
An "Entry" is a contest submission submitted to a Contest and approved by moderators during the designated submission timeframe of a Contest.
A "Category" is a way for the Contest Sponsors to classify Contest Entries and organize them into distinct groups. Categories are optional; if defined, a Contest Sponsor may designate Winners, Honorable Mentions and Finalists for each Category.
Entries that do not comply with these Guidelines and Official Rules or that otherwise contain prohibited, inappropriate, or irrelevant content as determined by the Contest Sponsor, at its sole discretion, will be disqualified, removed from the Contest site, and not considered for a prize.
Eligibility
The Contest is open to individuals who are legal residents of the United States and who also meet the conditions listed below.
Contestants must be a minimum of 18 years of age. The age of the Contestant shall be deemed to be the Contestant's age at the time of submission.
The Contest is void where prohibited by law.
Employees, directors, and officers of the Contest Sponsor (AAFMAA), the Contest Platform (Votridea), Air Force Athletics Employees, MetroStar Systems, and each of their respective parent, subsidiary and affiliated companies; as well as contractors of these firms, distribution, web design, advertising, fulfillment, judging and Contest agencies involved in the administration, development, fulfillment and execution of this Contest (collectively, "Contest Parties"); and the immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling and spouse or "step" of each); and those living in the same household of each such individual are not eligible to win this contest.
General Requirements
Each Contestant may submit only one Entry.
Once an Entry is submitted and accepted by reviewers it is considered final and may not be modified or edited.
Upon submission of the Entry, the Contestant waives all rights to the use of the Entry in promotional and Contest-related activities by the Contest Sponsor and Contest Parties.
No Entries will be returned.
Participation is subject to the Contestant's consent to the Contest Sponsor's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, as posted on the Contest website or accessed via mobile application.
Registration
The person named as the registered owner of the Votridea user account associated with the Entry will be considered the Contestant and will be the only person eligible to compete for any prize, if applicable, offered by the Contest Sponsor. The following exception applies: an individual may upload an Entry to the Contest website on behalf of another individual and designate that other individual as the rightful winner of any eventual prize, if that other individual meets all eligibility requirements.
What to Enter
The contest is open to all photographic imagery of you, your family and friends in your favorite fan gear.
Entries may originate in any format including, but not limited to digital files, digital prints, color transparencies, color prints, or black and white prints - so long as they are submitted electronically.
Each submitted photograph, in its entirety, must be a single work of original material taken by the Contest entrant. By entering the Contest, entrant acknowledges that the submitted photograph(s) is an original work created solely by the entrant, that the photograph does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the photograph. Photos that violate or infringe upon another person's copyright are not eligible.
The photographs entered must not, in the sole discretion of the Contest Sponsor, contain profanity, nudity, explicit sexual material, graphic violence, appeals to violence, drug use, drug paraphernalia or commercial promotion. Entries must adhere to the norms of civil discourse and should not contain material that might be considered abusive, inflammatory or disrespectful to other groups or individuals, or otherwise objectionable content. Entries deemed inappropriate will not be approved as solely determined by the Contest Sponsor.
Entries must comply with the Votridea Terms of Service.
Entries that do not comply with these Guidelines and Official Rules or that otherwise contain prohibited, inappropriate, or irrelevant content as determined by the Contest Sponsor, at its sole discretion, will be disqualified, removed from the Contest site, and not considered for a prize.
Prize Winners
Before being awarded their prize, winners may be required to sign a legal affidavit indicating that they are in fact the photographer who created the photo, that they own legal copyright, and that they have written releases for any recognizable locations and people appearing in the photograph.
Prize winners will be contacted via email. If the winner does not respond to our email and claim the prize within 5 days, the prize will be forfeited. Winners are responsible for all applicable federal, state or local taxes, tariffs or import duty fees.
Winners may be required to sign an IRS Form W-9 or equivalent.
Winners must be at least 18 years of age.
Prize winners agree to hold harmless and release the Contest Sponsor, its staff, officers, Instructors and affiliated entities from loss, claim, injury, damage or expense, including, but not limited to reasonable attorney's fees and costs, which are in any way connected or associated with the use of any prizes or prizes received from the Contest Sponsor.
This contest is governed by the laws of the State of Virginia, USA. If local laws in your place of residence make this contest illegal, do not enter the contest. This contest is void where prohibited by law.
Liabilities and Rights
By entering a photo into the contest, you provide the Contest Sponsor permission to utilize photos entered as content for them to place in promotional materials, or in any other communications on behalf of their organization.
You must be the sole owner of the copyright of any image submitted. Your submission of the photo and entry form is your guarantee that you are the author and copyright holder of the photo.
Copyright of the image remains the property of the photographer. However, by submitting an Entry to the Contest, Contestants grant the Contest Sponsor a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display, and perform the Entries in any media formats and through any media channels in connection with the Contest and exhibition and in connection with the business of the Contest Sponsor, including but not limited to, the use of photographs in education curriculum materials for distribution to schools and other organizations, and to exhibit the work in a public exhibition. Entries are subject to editing, as they may be used by the Contest Sponsor for promotional purposes.
The Contest Sponsor and Votridea do not endorse any Entry or any opinion, recommendation, or advice expressed therein, and the Contest Sponsor and Votridea expressly disclaim any and all liability in connection with all Entries.
The Contest Sponsor and Votridea do not permit or condone copyright infringing activities and infringement of intellectual property rights and will remove any Entry in violation of copyright protections if properly notified that an Entry infringes on another's intellectual property rights.
The Contestant assumes sole responsibility for the material contained in the Entry and for the consequences of posting it on the Contest site.
Neither the Contest Sponsor nor any of the Contest Parties is liable for any disputes between collaborators related to an Entry.
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Contest Sponsor, its employees and agents, from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs or debt, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees) arising from: (i) your use of and access to the Contest websites in connection with the Contest; (ii) your violation of these Rules or Terms of Service; (iii) your violation of any third party right, including without limitation any copyright, trademark, intellectual property, privacy, publicity or other proprietary right in connection with the Contest, or (iv) any claim that your Entry caused damage to a third party. This defense and indemnification obligation will survive indefinitely beyond the conclusion of the Contest and your use of the Contest website.
Judging Criteria
All Entries will be screened by the Contest Sponsor to ensure compliance with the Terms of Service before being posted for community viewing.
The Contest Sponsor will specify the process for how Entries will be ranked. Ranking options supported by the Contest Platform include 1) direct selection by the Contest Sponsor, 2) community voting, and 3) ranking by a panel of judges; a combination of these ranking methods may also be defined by the Contest Sponsor.
The judging criteria will be based on three categories: Creativity/Originality, Relevance to the Contest Topic, and Community Approval (via Public Voting).
The Contest Sponsor will specify, at its sole discretion, whether any prizes will be offered to the winners of the Contest.
The Contest Sponsor reserves the right to verify that an Entry is in full compliance with these Contest Guidelines and Official Rules before it is recognized as a winning Entry and before awarding any prize.
The Contest Sponsor reserves the right to require prize winners to submit to a confidential background check to confirm eligibility as a condition of awarding the prize. The intent of this background check is to ensure the use of any such person in advertising or publicity for the Contest will not bring Contest Sponsor into public disrepute, contempt, scandal or ridicule or reflect unfavorably on the Contest as determined by Contest Sponsor. This is at the sole discretion of the Contest Sponsor.
General Terms and Conditions
If for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including without limitation, infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, the Contest Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, modify or terminate the Contest. Further, the Contest Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual deemed to be (a) tampering or attempting to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or the Contest Sponsor or Votridea's Contest Platform; (b) violating the Official Contest Rules; (c) violating Votridea's Terms of Service, (d) violating the Contest Sponsor's Terms of Use and Privacy Statements, or (e) acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. Sponsor's failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of such term or any other provision. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who violates the rules or interferes with the Contest in any manner. Sponsor's decisions are final on all matters relating to this Contest. The Sponsor can and may update, amend, or change the Contest Rules at anytime.
Limitations of Liability and Release
Contest Sponsor and Contest Parties assume no liability or responsibility resulting from any user's participation in or attempt to participate in the Contest or ability or inability to upload or download any information in connection with participating in the Contest. Contest Sponsor and Contest Parties assume no responsibility or liability for technical problems or technical malfunction arising in connection with any of the following occurrences which may affect the operation of the Contest: hardware or software errors; faulty computer, telephone, cable, satellite, network, electronic, wireless or Internet connectivity or other online communication problems; errors or limitations of any Internet service providers, servers, hosts or providers; garbled, jumbled or faulty data transmissions; failure of any email transmissions to be sent or received; lost, late, delayed or intercepted email transmissions; inaccessibility of Votridea's Contest Platform in whole or in part for any reason; traffic congestion on the Internet or Votridea's Contest Platform; failure of Votridea's Contest Platform; unauthorized human or non-human intervention with the operation of the Contest, including without limitation, unauthorized tampering, hacking, theft, virus, bugs, worms; or destruction of any aspect of the Contest, or loss, miscount, misdirection, inaccessibility or unavailability of an email account used in connection with the Contest. Contest Sponsor and Contest Parties are not responsible for any typographical errors in the announcement of prizes or these Official Rules, or any inaccurate or incorrect data contained on Votridea's Contest Platform. Use of Votridea's Contest Platform is at user's own risk and is based upon user's agreement with Votridea's Terms of Service, Votridea's Privacy Statement and the Contest's Terms of Service. Contest Sponsor and the Contest Parties are not responsible for any personal injury or property damage or loss of any kind which may be sustained to user's or any other person's computer equipment resulting from participation in the Contest, use of Votridea's Contest Platform, or the download of any information from the Contest by Votridea. By participating in the Contest, the Contestant releases Contest Sponsor and any Contest Parties from any and all claims, damages or liabilities arising from or relating to such Contestant's participation in the Contest. The Contest Sponsor and Contest Parties are not liable in the event that any portion of the Contest is cancelled due to weather, fire, strike, acts of war or terrorism, or any other condition beyond their control (a "Force Majeure Event"). Should a Force Majeure Event occur, Contest Sponsor may, but is not obligated to, exercise reasonable efforts to air the winning Entries and deliver all or part of the prizes or make a reasonable substitution in its sole discretion.
